Using Targets in Scrivener
If you use Scrivener as your main writing tool, the Project and Session Targets are great ways to track your progress. Watching those progress bars can be a big motivator. I’m talking Tony Robbins style motivation here. Okay, maybe not.
By default, Scrivener uses red, yellow and green to represent start, midway and end, respectively. But that’s boring. Wouldn’t it be better if you were working toward your favorite color? Or better yet, working away from your least favorite color?
It’s very easy to do. Open Scrivener’s preferences and choose Appearance from the toolbar. Under the Customizable Colors section, choose Target Progress Bars from the left most pane. The options in the middle box allow you to set a color for each stage of your progress.

Let’s make believe that you hate the color pink. Just looking at the color pink makes you crazy enough to boil a live rabbit. Start there and as you throw words on the screen it will slowly (or quickly!) transition to your favorite color.
This particular person’s favorite color is purple. Not my favorite color, of course. I mean, what guy loves purple? Not me. Prince, maybe. He is a guy, right?

To access the Project Targets window, click on the Projects menu and then Show Project Targets.
